Meet An Awesome RezScorian

As you already know, RezScore loves job-seekers!

We’re constantly seeking ways to promote and enhance your job search, from offering our Free Resume Grader to our Skills Explorer to our Leaderboard.

We have also been profiling job seekers who have submitted the very best resumes.  This week, we’re doing it a bit differently. We’re introducing a user who purchased the RezScore Makeover to improve their resume and saw terrific results.

Meet Lisa Witt Herrera of San Francisco, CA!

Lisa used the RezScore Makeover to improve her resume, and immediately saw great results:

I wanted to send you a quick note to thank you and your RezScore team for doing a great job on improving my resume.  It’s been two weeks into the new year and I’ve already had double the amount of calls back for jobs that I’ve applied to.

We were proud to have helped her that far, and grateful that she’d told us how well it was going, but we felt we could do more. So we chose Lisa for our semi-regular job-seeker profile.

Here’s everything you need to know about Lisa:

Tell us a little about yourself…

I am a native to the beautiful Bay Area and love where I live.  I have completed my undergraduate degree in Communications from SFSU and my master’s degree in Management from NDNU.  I’m married to wonderful man from El Salvador and we love to travel both locally and to far away places together.  We are both active in our local Christian church and believe that God has a great plan for our lives.  No matter how hard life can be sometimes, I always try to remind myself of the following Bible verse from Proverbs 3:5-6 -Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.  Just like in my job search I know that if I remain faithful and trust in the Lord, He will place me in my perfect job.

How long have you been in the job search?

Six months actively looking

What kind of job are you looking for?

Junior Project Manager / Project Specialist

What has your job search been like?

Frustrating, however it’s a learning experience.  I’ve dedicated every weekday to my job search and have joined several job-networking groups.  It’s frustrating to jump through several interviewing “hoops” before you know if you have a chance, only to be disappointed with their final decision.  Many companies along the Bay Area Peninsula have a pool of competent and worthy candidates to choose from and I have learned to be hopeful and persistent.

How have you used RezScore? Has it helped?

RezScore gave me a good assessment of my resume and how it compares to others in my industry.  Once I realized I needed a makeover for my resume I turned it over to RezScore.  They made my two-page resume into one page by cutting out a lot of the unnecessary language and past job experience that wasn’t relevant any longer.  They also condensed my job responsibilities while making it flow more effectively.  In addition, they gave me an individualized resume review form and broke down my strengths and weaknesses.

What is the current status of your job hunt (i.e. employed, unemployed, freelancing, part-time)?

Currently contracting, but hoping to find a permanent position.

If you could sum up the job hunting process in a single word, what would it be?

If you could advise other job seekers about their resumes, what would you say to them?

Don’t wait too long to ask for professional help.  The sooner you can get someone to look over your resume and give you constructive feedback  and new ideas to make it stand out in the crowd, the sooner you will land your next position.  I waited five months before I turned to RezScore and since then I’ve had double the amount of interviews set up and contract work offered to me.  One small token of advice I can give is to remain hopeful and stay true to who you are throughout the job-hunting process.  Good Luck & Blessings.
